What is the difference between medical and therapeutic massage?

Medical massage is the intentional and systematic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body to enhance healing whereas therapeutic massage aims at body relaxation. Medical massage may include joint and soft tissue mobilizations, IASTM, and cupping as deemed appropriate by your clinician.

What are the benefits of massage?
Massage can improve pliability of fascia, optimize joint range of motion, stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system for relaxation, and enhance tissue repair with improved circulation.

Am I a candidate for medical massage?
Much of the scientific research about massage points toward beneficial effects on pain. Extensive research has shown massage to be effective for chronic low-back pain, chronic neck pain and pain due to osteoarthritis. Massage therapy may help temporarily reduce pain, fatigue, and other symptoms associated with fibromyalgia.
